Hannahs Story
I’ve loved visual expression for as long as I can remember. Growing up, my mother and two aunties shared the same passion, and creativity was something that was deeply ingrained in me from a young age. Painting has always been my way of understanding the world, a way to capture moments, feelings, and memories that words sometimes cannot.
I see my art as a visual diary. Every piece I create holds a story or a memory, and I find it impossible to paint something that I don’t feel emotionally connected to. It might be a place I’ve visited, a family memory, a fleeting moment I’ve observed, or an emotion that lingers. Each painting carries its own backstory, a reflection of my experiences and inner world.
Much of my work is inspired by travel and the people and places I’ve encountered along the way. My African collection, for example, draws from memories of time spent in The Gambia, Morocco, and family photographs from Kenya. These moments—the colors, energy, and human connections I experienced—continue to influence the figures, gestures, and stories I explore in my work.
I’m also lucky to live in Dorset, surrounded by stunning landscapes and seascapes like Durdle Door, Old Harry’s Rocks, and Lulworth Cove. These places are not just beautiful—they are sources of comfort and peace. I love translating the joy and emotion I feel in these places into my paintings, so that others can experience not just the view, but the feeling behind it.
Open my visual diary and see if anything resonates with you. Hang a piece on your wall that offers more than just beauty—let it bring memory, emotion, and expression into your space.
